At Kelham House confetti isn’t just a tradition, it’s a moment that lifts the whole day. We’ve stood on those steps dozens of times, petals clinging to our shoulders, laughter bouncing off the stonework. Because we’re trusted everywhere, we don’t just watch it happen from the edge. We move through the crowd, inside the house looking out, even standing in the rain when confetti bursts indoors.
Couples often tell us this is one of their favourite memories, and one of the photos they look back on most. As one Kelham bride said:
“The photos captured the laughter and the chaos perfectly. We didn’t even notice you were there, but somehow you caught every petal and every smile.”
Where Confetti Happens at Kelham
Front Steps — the Iconic Throw
- Almost every wedding has confetti here. The stone steps frame the couple perfectly, and the view back to the house gives timeless photographs.
- We often shoot from two angles: outside with the guests, and reverse from inside the house looking out. That way couples have both perspectives, the shower of petals and the joy of guests’ faces.
Garden Room — Rainy Day Plan
- When the weather doesn’t play along, Kelham allows confetti indoors in the Garden Room. We’ve seen it work beautifully after the ceremony and even more during the first dance.
- The light through the windows creates a soft haze that makes indoor confetti magical.
Planning Your Confetti Moment
Here’s what couples often ask us:
What type of confetti works best?
Kelham prefer biodegradable petals. We recommend dried flower mixes — they look beautiful, fall slowly, and photograph well.
How do we organise it?
Don’t worry. We help line up your guests, hand out confetti, and make sure the throw feels natural. It’s one of those times we’re as much part of the team as the staff themselves.
What if it rains?
We’ve done confetti under umbrellas, in the Garden Room, even timed it with breaks in the weather. Whatever happens, you’ll get the moment.
Venus Moments in the Confetti
Confetti isn’t just about the petals. It’s the way your dad cheers a little too loudly. The way your best friend forgets to throw because she’s crying. The kiss in the middle of the steps when you forget anyone else is there.
These are the Venus Moments — real, fleeting, irreplaceable. That’s why we always shoot more than the throw itself. The hugs, the champagne, the first breath afterwards — they’re part of the story too.
Laura & Matt’s Confetti
Laura and Matt had their confetti throw on the front steps. Guests lined both sides, petals filled the air, and they kissed halfway down. Later they told us:
"That confetti photo is on our wall. Every time we see it, it brings us straight back to that laugh, that kiss, that exact feeling.”
