Hodsock Priory Weddings | Your Photographer’s Insider Guide
Hodsock Priory has a presence that stays with you. The mile long drive, the Tudor Gatehouse rising at the end of it, the quiet sweep of lawns and woodland that seem to settle the whole place into calm. It feels grand and historic without ever feeling distant.
We have photographed many weddings here and we are proud to be one of the recommended photographers. That means we know how the light moves across the Pavilion during a ceremony. We know where to stand for the moment the couple walks through the Gatehouse after saying their vows. We know how the team works and how the day flows when you are surrounded by rooms that each feel like their own little world.
This guide brings together everything a couple needs to picture their wedding day at Hodsock Priory. Not just what the venue looks like, but how it feels when we are there capturing it for you.

Hodsock gives you remarkable choice for your ceremony. Five indoor rooms, a licensed outdoor gazebo and countless celebrant led options across the grounds. Each space photographs beautifully, but in different ways.
The Georgian gazebo
Tucked into the gardens and surrounded by lawns and flowers, the gazebo is calm and timeless. The light is even, the colours natural and the space allows us to move gently around you without distraction. Outdoor ceremonies here feel peaceful and intimate.
The Tudor Gatehouse
Although not licensed for civil ceremonies, it is unforgettable for celebrant led vows. You stand beneath the brick archway with centuries of history framing the moment. It is one of the most striking backdrops in Nottinghamshire and one of the signature images couples fall in love with.
The Pavilion
Bright, contemporary and filled with soft daylight from two sides. During ceremonies we position ourselves front and back so we can capture reactions, quiet moments and every expression as you exchange vows. The Pavilion gives a clean, modern look to your photographs while keeping the warmth of an English country house.
The Buchanan Hall
Elegant and atmospheric with chandeliers, neutral walls and a classic wooden floor. Light from the large windows falls beautifully across the aisle. This room suits couples who want something traditional with just enough modern simplicity to feel fresh.
The Panelled Hall
Oak panelling, portraits, deep character and a sense of history. We photograph ceremonies here with a focus on warm tones and careful angles. If you want a backdrop that feels historic and full of depth, this room is perfect.
The Library
The Library is ideal for very small ceremonies. Full of character and natural light. Creates a sense of privacy that works wonderfully for intimate moments and close family gatherings.

Calm groom preparations, close by and unrushed.
Hodsock has two dedicated preparation spaces, both of which make the morning feel relaxed.
The Dressing Room
Bright, spacious and calm. Hair and make up teams love working here because everyone has room to move. For us, the light is reliable and flattering which makes it perfect for morning moments and natural candids.
The Clubhouse
A second preparation space located in the Courtyard. Ideal for groomsmen or for anyone who prefers a quieter space away from the main house. Both rooms allow you to prepare without rush and with complete privacy.
The Honeymoon Suite
Once hair and make up are complete, most brides move to the Honeymoon Suite to get into their dress. This is where we capture emotional reveals with bridesmaids or with the father of the bride. It has beautiful light and a sense of occasion that always makes these moments feel real and unforgettable.

The Gatehouse
This is the shot everyone knows. Standing under the archway with Hodsock behind you or walking through the entrance with confetti flying. We know the angles, the distance, the timing and which direction the light works best from. It always feels cinematic, yet completely effortless.
The lakeside
A quiet space with wide open views. The water brings a softness to the images and gives you a few minutes to breathe together. It is perfect for gentle portraits after the ceremony.
The Italian Terrace
One of the best locations for relaxed group photographs. The stone, the lines and the view across the gardens make everything feel open and elegant. It is also one of the prettiest places for champagne moments.
The Pavilion windows
Two sides of the Pavilion are lined with large windows. During the day they create a natural spotlight that moves slowly across the room. During speeches we move between the windows to catch reactions and laughter as the story of your day unfolds.
The woodland edge
For couples who want something natural and peaceful. The woodland has character in every season and adds depth and texture to portraits. It is also a lovely place to escape to for ten minutes and just be together.

Hodsock has something rare. It feels grand and historic without ever feeling heavy. The Tudor brickwork, Georgian fireplaces, Victorian windows and contemporary Pavilion all blend together in a way that gives you endless variety without breaking the flow of your day.
For us, this means we can move quietly from room to room and always find something beautiful to work with. The house never forces you into stiff photographs. It simply gives you a sense of space and history that becomes part of your story without becoming the whole story.
After your ceremony, guests usually spill out onto the lawns. The space feels open and relaxed which makes it perfect for natural candids.
Drinks are often served around the House Bar, the Italian Terrace and the gardens. We move between the rooms capturing moments like children running across the lawn, glasses clinking on the terrace and small pockets of laughter by the windows.
The Italian Terrace and the lawns give us plenty of space to keep groups natural and quick. If the weather changes, the Pavilion and surrounding rooms work beautifully.
The light is incredible. We move gently through the room to capture both your speakers and the reactions that make the story real. The Pavilion keeps everything bright and warm which is ideal for storytelling images.
As the evening draws in, the Pavilion becomes the heart of the celebration. Dancing here feels lively and atmospheric with guests spilling out into the terrace and bar.
